Buy Days Gone and you´ll find yourself in Oregon, a region in the northwestern United States. The story unfolds two years after the onset of a terrible pandemic that devastated the familiar old world and transformed much of the population into insane "freaks"—violent, zombie-like creatures that band together in hordes and adapt to the most hostile environments.

The player will have to confront these mutants, using improvised traps in stealth mode or crafting powerful weapons for open attacks. But Deacon, in addition to the "freaks," is also hunted by surviving bandits, cultists, and even the local fauna.

To travel through locations—from volcanic wastelands to picturesque forests—the player will be able to use a motorcycle, which can be upgraded and its appearance can be customized. The game features a particularly realistically implemented weather and time of day, adding to the game´s atmosphere.

The PC version of Days Gone (called Life After in the official Russian localization) has received graphical enhancements compared to the console version. Purchasing Days Gone will give you ultra-wide resolution support, smoother frame rates, and increased draw distance.
